Role
Web Design
Tisch Drama Access was first launched in 2017 as an information hub for current students. By 2020, at the onset of the pandemic, it became an instrumental tool to manage communications and centralize resources at the conservatory. While the solution worked, it was a clunky user experience due to the fact that it was never a single website, but a collection of website cleverly linked together and presented as one. The department requested a new development that optimized the user experience while continuing to deliver community-oriented and educational information.
Challenge
How can we create a polished user experience for our entire academic community?
01.
Centralizing content and information
The new Drama Access website uses wordpress and Divi Theme. Additionally, Custom Post Types (CPT UI) and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF Pro) is used to create new custom post categories and fields that are easy to update within WP’s Dashboard.
02.
Dynamic Menus and Dashboard
A collection of resource dashboards were created for each member type (eg, FT Faculty, Administration, Students, etc) that that are displayed based on user type. This reduced page redundancy while streamlining the process to maintain and update existing resources.

Better Resources
Leveraging the modern design and user channels for content, I was able to rapidly build out new UIs and templated pages. The design refresh allowed for more flexibility of content placement and a branded aesthetic within Tisch Drama’s existing identity. Additionally, new resource implementation supporting both academic learning, like the Intimacy Portal, and Student Services sections allowed us to wrap Drama Access into our larger department programming.
Results
Since the first launch of Drama Access, we delivered almost 2,000 audition opportunities, 100 news stories and created a cultural shift in an otherwise low-tech department. With this new development, Tisch Drama is able to continue to innovate and deliver thoughful and inclusive content to our next generation of studdents who are heavily reliant on the web for information and resources.
